3 Benefits Of Teaching Someone How To Lead Worship

Teaching people how to lead worship holds a special place in my heart.

I've dedicated the past 2 and a half years of my life to it.

And, while the goal of teaching is ultimately to help others, there are tangible benefits that I get out of it too.

I can confidently say that regularly creating training resources for worship leaders has helped me improve in my own worship leading!

And I believe that the same is true for YOU as well.

Good leaders are good teachers.

Here are 3 benefits of teaching someone how to lead worship:

1 | It forces you to clarify what you believe

Before you teach someone something, you have to learn it yourself.

You can't just say, "Let me show you how to do this" without first learning the ins and outs of it for yourself.

In that process of learning before teaching, you are forced to clarify what you believe.

We don't just teach random tidbits to people - we teach our philosophy. So, before you teach, you have to know what you do and why you do it.

In that process, you might even learn that you don't like how you do something and you get to improve it.

2 | It forces you to commit to what you believe

It's one thing to keep your thoughts in your head. It's safe in there. No one can judge you. Plus, you can constantly change your mind.

But, when you teach someone something you are forced to commit to what you believe.

You get to say "THIS is how we do worship rehearsals." Or "THESE are the most important things to me when I plan a worship service."

Teaching forces you to transform nebulous concepts into tangible principles.

3 | You get to REPLACE yourself

The greatest benefit of teaching others how to lead worship is that you eventually don't have to do it on your own anymore.

All that work you put in explaining and discipling and teaching eventually leads to... a week off.

Not only that. It creates a sustainable ministry that is able to outlast you.
