3 Qualities Of A Great Worship Team Leader

On a recent Insta story poll, I asked "Are you a worship TEAM leader?"

Over 90% of the people who answered, answered: "Yes. I lead a worship team."

It got me thinking: what makes a great worship team leader?

Here are 3 qualities of a great worship team leader:

1 | Prepared

The best way to show your team that you care about them is by being prepared.

Inversely, the best way to show your worship team that you DON'T care about them is by NOT being prepared.

So, worship team leader, how are you doing in the area of preparation? Do you prepare early enough to give your team time to fulfill their role to the best of their ability? Do you have a plan for your rehearsals or do you aimlessly wander through your songs for Sunday?

2 | Relational

Great team leaders not only care about accomplishing the MISSION of their team but they also care about the PEOPLE on their team.

Your team is made up of more than musicians. Your team members aren't just bass players and percussionists and vocalists... They're mothers and fathers, sons and daughters, teachers and business owners and baristas.

So, don't just treat your team like musicians who are there to fill a instrumental role on Sundays - treat them like your church family.

3 | Vision

Great worship team leaders have the ability to see what lies ahead. That takes two forms.

First, great leaders are able to see problems before they happen and they address them quickly so they don't turn into bigger problems.

Second, great leaders have a PLAN for the future. They know where they are leading their team and communicate that vision to them.

One of the best times to communicate vision to your team is during your worship rehearsal devotional time.

I want to help YOU communicate a key piece of vision for your worship team - that is that EVERY SINGLE MEMBER on your worship team is a worship leader.

On Monday, July 20, I'm releasing an 8 week devotional for worship teams called "We Are ALL Worship Leaders!" If you sign up for the launch list, I'll send you a FREE devotional that you can lead your team in at rehearsal this week to start casting that vision.
