3 Reasons You Should Lead A Small Group If You're A Worship Leader

Maybe it sounds crazy for you to take on MORE responsibility at church. But there are real benefits to serving as a small group leader in your church.

Here are 3 reasons you should lead a small group if you're a worship leader:

1 | Learn people's stories

Small groups are the perfect time to learn about the people you're leading. You're able to have deeper conversations than you can have in passing on Sunday morning. Small groups allow you to learn what's going on in the lives of the people in your church. And as you know, it's so important to lead into people's stories when you lead worship.

You might not be able to get to know everyone at your church but learning 8-10 people's individual stories can still be powerful. You'll learn what's going on in their lives: sickness, job loss, job promotion, etc. Take the good and the bad and use it to lead your church on Sunday. When you learn people's stories, your language becomes more specific when you lead as you speak truth over those circumstances.

2 | Build relationships

Small groups also allow you to not just learn about people but build real relationships with them. The stronger the relationship you build with people the more they will trust you to lead them. This can have a meaningful impact not only on the people you're in a small group with but your entire church. As your small group members trust you more and more to lead them, their enthusiasm will spread to the other people in your church.

Then, imagine the impact if you have multiple people on your worship team leading small groups. Suddenly your team has gained the trust of 40-50 people!

3 | You'll know the Scripture your church is focused on better

The best way to learn something is to put yourself in the position where you have to teach it. As you prepare to lead your small group, you'll have no choice but to dive deep into the Scripture you're studying. This will help you formulate thoughts that you can use when you lead your entire church on Sunday!
