3 Ways to Musically Invest in Your Worship Team

There are three main areas in which you should invest in your team: musically, spiritually, and relationally. Each has their own importance and should be balanced. Let's take a look at how you can invest in your team musically.

Here are three ways you can musically invest in your team:

1 | Watch a training video together

There are a ton of free training videos available online. Pull up a conference breakout session and watch it with your team. You can get as general or as specific as you want. Find a video that teaches how to work together as a band. Or find one specifically for vocalists. Plan a gathering, watch the training, and discuss how you can incorporate what you've learned into your leading.

2 | Sectionals

Sometimes it's best to break your team into different sections - Rhythm section, guitarists, vocalists, keyboardists, etc. Get together with a specific group. Come in with a plan on what you want to work on and then specifically work on that issue. Maybe your rhythm section hasn't been as tight as they can be. Maybe your vocalists aren't matching their phrasing. First, identify the problem. Second, put together a solution. Third, get the section together and implement a solution.

3 | One on ones

If you want to get really specific you can have one on ones. These are meetings where you meet with an individual to work on something they can improve upon. Get together with a vocalist and have them work on harmonies. Or get together with your drummer and work on a drum beat they keep messing up. You don't need to be proficient in their musical area - all you need to do is give them an opportunity to work on whatever they need to work on.
