How to Worship While You Lead Worship

It can be difficult to find the balance between leading worship and personally worshiping during worship gatherings. If you focus too much on the logistics of leading worship, you can miss out on the personal connection with God. If you focus too much on personally worshiping, you aren't fulfilling your responsibility of being a worship LEADER. What if you could do both at the same time?

Here are 3 ways you can worship while you lead worship:

1 | Be prepared

Being able to worship while leading is a process that starts long before Sunday morning. It requires preparation. Simply put: the more prepared you are logistically, the more free you are spiritually. The more you know chords and lyrics - the more you are able to focus on other things. If you're finding it hard to worship and lead worship at the same time, ask yourself: Am I truly prepared to lead worship?

2 | See your worship leading as worship

While music is a form of worship, it is not the only way to worship. Another way to worship God is to be obedient to him. What better way is there to be obedient to God than to serve his Church? The simple act of allowing God to use you to lead his church is an act of worship. So don't get so caught up on the musical aspect or even your "personal worship" while you lead that you forget that the very act of you LEADING worship IS worship.

3 | Model worship

At points during your leading, it is appropriate to focus completely on modeling personal worship. Create space where you can step away from the microphone and show people what it looks like to worship God.
