2 Worship Leading Realities You Need To Accept

The longer you serve in ministry, the more time false narratives have to develop.

What happens is you exchange what is REAL for what you WISH WAS REAL.

Before you continue reading this post, hear me out: I'm not looking to destroy your worship leading hopes and dreams BUT I am a realist.

When you believe what you WISH WAS REAL instead of what is actually real, you end up trying to solve the wrong problems.

So, let's focus on what's REAL so you can solve the problems that need to be solved.

Here are 2 worship leading realities you need to accept:

1 | Your worship team size will be proportionate to the size of your church

"I NEED more worship team members!"

That's a thought every worship leader has had.

So, what do you do? After you put up an announcement slide and realize that it does absolutely nothing to drive people to join your team, you go and try to recruit people in your church.

And maybe you're successful with a few. But, you still want more.

So, you go back to the people of your church and try to find more. All the while not realizing the simple reality that your worship team will be proportionate to the size of your church.

Your worship team can only grow so big in a church of 10.

You can only find a certain amount of musicians in a church of 75.

The problem is not that you need to find MORE worship team members, it's that you need to GROW your church.

2 | If the leaders aren't passionate about worship, your church members won't be passionate about worship

"Why won't people worship like I want them to?!"

People follow the example that the leaders of your church set.

If your pastor stands in the back of the room and talks to people while musical worship is happening, your people will assume that musical worship is not very important.

If your worship team members are unprepared, stare at a music stand the entire service, and look generally uninterested - your people will assume that musical worship is unimportant and uninteresting.

If you want your church to worship, teach your leaders to worship.
