Be Careful What You Sing - Your Music is Your Theology
There's no question that music is powerful. There's something special about it that affects our memories.
That's why you can remember all the lyrics to those 90's pop songs. Or that song that your mom used to always play in the car.
God has designed music in a special way that allows us to memorize things we otherwise wouldn't be able to.
Therefore, when you pick songs to sing in church, it's super important to make sure that they contain good theology. These are what are going to be stuck in people's heads during the week.
Not only that, but you've got millions of songs to choose from and only a few spots available in your service. That's why it's important to pick theologically rich songs.
Next time you introduce a song to your church ask the question: do I really want this stuck in people's heads for the rest of the week? Or is there a song that might be more beneficial to them?
