3 Questions To Ask At Your Next Worship Team Rehearsal
The first worship rehearsal of the year is the perfect time to set your team up for success in the coming year. It's the perfect time to cast vision for where you want your team to be at the end of this year. But, instead of you being the only one who talks about your hopes and dreams for the future of your team, let your team members share their thoughts too.
If you want people to succeed in following a vision, they have to actually buy into it. And the best way to let them buy into the vision is to have them help establish what that vision is. So at your next rehearsal, take a few minutes to have a conversation with your team. The best way to start a conversation is to ask questions.
Here are 3 questions to ask at your next worship team rehearsal:
1 | What can we celebrate from 2018?
There were a lot of amazing things that happened this year - don't glance over them. If someone stepped into a new role on your team, celebrate that. If you had some amazing times of worship, reflect on those. Celebrate everything God did in your church in 2018 and use that as encouragement for the new year.
2 | What can we do better this year?
If your team really wants to improve, you've got to ask the tough question: What can we do better this year? There's always room for improvement. Is it your team's rhythm? Is it showing up to practice on time? Is it keeping your eyes open while leading? Make a list of some things you can improve upon.
3 | How can I better serve you?
As the leader of the team, your goal should be to serve your team members as best as you possibly can. Ask them the simple question: how can I serve you better? Their answer will let you know the things they're struggling with and where you can improve as a leader. Maybe you need to get them their music earlier. Or maybe you don't have a plan for your rehearsals and a lot of time is wasted. Use their answers to serve them better this year.
