3 Quick Tips To Connect With The People You're Leading In Worship
On Monday, we took a look at 3 steps you can take to connect with the people you're leading in worship.
Today, I want to give 3 quick tips to make connection with the people you're leading in worship easier.
These are 3 things you can do in tandem with the 3 step process I showed you on Monday.
Here are 3 quick tips to connect with the people you're leading in worship:
1 | Connection with the people you're leading starts before you ever get on stage
Simply put: if you don't actually know the people you're leading in worship, you're not going to be able to connect with them - at least not on a deeper level.
That means interacting with them in other areas on Sunday morning and not just hiding backstage or in the greenroom or hanging out with the other members of your worship team.
Get out in the lobby and talk to the people you're going to be leading. You spent all morning with your worship team. They're going to be okay without you for a few moments.
Get to know what's going on in the lives of the people you're leading on a regular basis.
2 | Open your eyes
That less than 1mm thick barrier known as your eyelid can serve as the BIGGEST barrier to you actually connecting with the people you're leading.
Think about a normal conversation you'd have. What if you NEVER OPENED YOUR EYES while you had it?
That'd be kind of weird, right? The same is true of worship leading.
If you never open your eyes, first of all, you won't see the people you're leading and you can't connect with people you can't see.
Second, you look like you're up there having your own personal time of worship and don't really care about what the rest of your church is doing.
3 | Teach the importance of connection with each other in corporate worship
One of the unique aspects of corporate worship is that there is a horizontal element to it. We get to connect with each other.
So, teach your church that they have a responsibility to connect with each other during your Sunday morning gatherings and, in doing so, you'll open a two way street where you are trying to connect to them and they are trying to connect to you.
