3 Reasons It's Okay To Take Some Time Off After Christmas

It's the week after Christmas and you're wondering to yourself, "Is it okay to take some time off? Or should I keep pushing until the end of the year?" Or maybe you've already tried taking the past few days off and felt guilty about it because there's still so much to do at church.

Let me assure you, it's okay to take some time off right now! Your church isn't going to fall apart. In fact, most people in your church are on break right now too (the Sunday after Christmas is one of the lowest attended Sundays of the year). So take some time off - this isn't the week to "just finish one more project." If you're responsible for leading this coming Sunday, make sure you have things in order, then take a few days off!

Here are 3 reasons it's okay to take some time off after Christmas:

1 | You just made it through the busiest season of the church year

Congratulations! You just made it through the busiest season of the church year! And it was worth it wasn't it? However, along with that sense of accomplishment came some long work hours, extra rehearsals, and more events at church. You put in a lot of work over the holiday season and any time you take off this week in terms of work hours has surely been made up by what you did during the Christmas season.

2 | You need a moment to celebrate

You need to celebrate what just happened during the Christmas season. While you're taking some time off, reflect on all the amazing things God did not just during Christmas but through this entire year (There are only 4 days left of 2018!) Jot down a few things your church has accomplished this year. What can you celebrate?

3 | Resting allows you to start the new year off right

Don't start 2019 like it's the end of 2018... it's a new year! But it'll only feel that way if you don't allow your 2018 to run into 2019. Keep them separate and use this week or next week to mentally separate the two. Then, when 2019 begins, LAUNCH into it instead of STUMBLING into it!
