3 Reasons You Should Start Preparing For Easter Now
We're about a month out from Easter. On the one hand, that seems like a lot of time to prepare and it is. But that fact makes it easy to want to put off preparation until the last moment.
Here are 3 reasons you should start preparing for Easter now (if you haven't already...):
1 | The slow cooker theory
Rarely do good ideas just pop up one day fully developed. They take weeks and weeks of planning. And it's not even necessarily the amount of time that you mentally direct towards planning these ideas - the part that really makes the difference are those in between moments where you're not consciously thinking about the idea. It's in those moments that the idea gets better and better.
It's sort of like a crock pot recipe. There are usually two options - you can cook your food on HIGH or you can cook it on LOW. Either way the food still gets cooked but cooking on LOW always produces a better product. The same is true with whatever you're planning for Easter - don't cook it on HIGH because you had to throw it together last minute. Give yourself plenty of time to let it develop.
2 | You'll be able to set your volunteers up for success
Often times when we aren't prepared, that means that our volunteers aren't prepared either. If you throw things together the week before Easter, that means that your volunteers will only get what they need a week before Easter. Honor your volunteers by planning things early so they have time to properly prepare.
3 | You'll be able to actually take a day off the week before Easter
Easter week is always a hectic week. There's a lot to do and a lot to prepare for. Most leaders just accept the fact that they will not be able to take a day off that week. That doesn't have to be the case if you prepare in advance!
If you're looking to jump start your Easter preparation, I put together something to help you start: 7 Days To Leading Easter Worship Well: A Practical Devotional For Worship Leaders Preparing For Easter. In this devotional, you'll learn some tips for preparing for Easter, how to engage people who only come to church once a year, and what you should be doing the week AFTER Easter.
