3 Reasons Your Church Is Unique

Maybe you've noticed by now, not all churches are the same. What works in one church might not work in another. That doesn't mean the idea isn't valid, it just means it didn't work in that specific context. Hymns work well in some churches, contemporary songs work better in others. Leading with just an acoustic guitar in some church is amazing, a full band works better at another church.

One of the mistakes churches constantly make is trying to be something they're not. It's okay to not be like every other church. But the first step in embracing your church's unique voice is identifying it.

Here are 3 ways your church is unique:

1 | Culture

Take a survey of the culture in which you live. What makes the people who attend your church the way that they are? Certain things resonate in rural Pennsylvania that wouldn't hit as close to home at a church in Los Angeles. It's all about leading in your specific context. Don't just take something you saw a mega church located in the heart of a huge city do and try to implement into your church. Make sure it resonates with the culture of your people.

2 | Traditions

Whether you like it or not, your church has traditions. There are things that you do that you've done for a long time and people have grown familiar with them. You don't need to shy away from these traditions. You can utilize them to make a huge impact. The key is to not bow to tradition but to use it to your advantage.

3 | Leadership Styles

People have become accustomed to how you lead you lead worship and how your pastor leads your church. Every pastor leads differently and there isn't necessarily one right way to do it. Find out how to best lead your people and double down on what works!
