3 Secrets To Finding Joy In Worship Ministry During The Christmas Season
Christmas is a time of joy and happiness. There's lots of good things going on. But, when you're in ministry it doesn't always feel that way. Your schedule is loaded with events at church which you not only have to go to, but you're in charge of them as well! There's a lot going on and it's easier to be stressed out than joyful during the Christmas season. Luckily, there are a few things you can do to stay joyful during the Christmas season.
Here are 3 secrets to experiencing joy in ministry during the Christmas season:
1 | Remember this is only a season
Remember this is only a season and that means two things.
First, this season won't last forever. Is December a long month? Yes. But think about the rest that comes after it. In ministry, there are seasons of work and rest. There are busy seasons in the church and times when it feels like not much is going on. (If you are only experiencing busy seasons, you need to re-calibrate your thoughts on what it means to rest). So lean in this season - work hard - then rest well once it's over.
Secondly, this season won't last forever! That's right I said it again! The Christmas celebration doesn't last long so enjoy it while you can. Embrace the Christmas season!
2 | Acknowledge what you get to do
Think about the privilege of what you get to do. Not even in terms of getting to share the story of Jesus with people - we'll get to that in a second. But think about the specific things you get to do. No matter what job you have or area of ministry you serve in, you will be overwhelmed at some point. So, what's better than being overwhelmed by something you love - playing music and leading worship! And what's better than being overwhelmed with people you love to be with - your worship team! We're all in this together!
3 | Think about the story you get to tell
We have the greatest story to tell this season. That Jesus, the son of God - God in flesh - came to earth to save us. That's the celebration we get to welcome people into this Christmas season. If we're not joyful about it, why should they be? Lead joyfully this Christmas!
