3 Ways To Actually Improve Your Worship Leading
Do you feel like you keep doing the same things over and over again in your worship leading and making very little improvement? We've all been there. We all go through stages of stagnation. So, how can you break out of that funk and actually improve?
Here are 3 ways to actually improve your worship leading:
1 | Listen to recordings of yourself, take notes, apply what you've learned
You are your own worst critic. Consequently you're also your own BEST critic. You pick up on things that other people wouldn't pick up on about how you lead. You notice all the small things. While this can be bad if you only ever focus on the negative, you can also use it to improve.
Listen to a recording of yourself leading. Ask "what can I do better next time?" and write some thoughts down. Then, take whatever you wrote down and implement it the next time you lead worship.
2 | Ask someone for feedback, see what critique is valid, apply what you've learned
Sometimes we have blind spots. There are probably things in your leadership that you simply aren't aware of and won't see. Ask someone you trust for feedback. Give them permission to tell you what you could do better. Then, take their advice and see if it's valid. Apply what you've learned next time you lead worship.
3 | Seek out additional resources, understand how the information applies to your own context, apply what you've learned
How are you feeding yourself? Sometimes stagnation comes from a lack of knowledge - not knowing what to do next. Here's a quick list of people you should be following if you aren't already:
There's one thing you should notice in these 3 points - they all end with APPLYING what you learn. You will never improve if you only LEARN. Improving comes once you APPLY what you learn.
