Saturday Challenge - Research The Meaning Behind A Christmas Carol

Saturday Challenge - Research The Meaning Behind A Christmas Carol

I challenge you to research the history behind a Christmas carol before you lead tomorrow.

Chances are you'll be singing some Christmas carols this weekend. Christmas carols are great because they're familiar to people. But sometimes that familiarity and sense of nostalgia can overshadow the fact that Christmas carols are worship songs. One way to overcome that is to explain the meaning behind the carol you're singing.

Before you lead tomorrow, figure out who wrote the carol, when they wrote it, and why they wrote it. Use that information to craft your speaking transition and let your church know the meaning behind the song so they can engage with it on a deeper level.

That's just one way you can show people that Christmas carols are actually worship songs. If you want a few more ways to communicate that, check out the post I put up earlier this week "3 Ways To Show People That Christmas Songs Are Worship Songs!"
