The Young Worshiper Podcast - Small Church Worship Ministry
Do you lead worship in a small church? Well, you're not alone!
Statistically speaking, 90% of churches in America have under 200 people attending their Sunday services.
You might not know that from a lot of the worship leading resources you see online which are primarily from large church worship leaders for large church worship ministries. And there's nothing wrong with those resources - we can learn A LOT from large church worship ministries!
But, there are some unique factors that come into play when leading in a small church that often go undiscussed.
In fact, that's the reason I created Leading Worship Well - because I recognized a distinct lack of resources specifically aimed toward small church worship leaders.
Last week I got the chance to spend some time discussing leading worship in a small church with James Cottrell on The Young Worshiper Podcast!
In the podcast, James and I talked about:
1 | How young worship leaders can prepare to lead in smaller congregations
The Young Worshiper Podcast is dedicated to equipping young worship leaders to navigate working in the ministry world.
And statistically speaking, if you are looking to become a full-time worship leader, chances are you'll probably be working in a small church.
So, James and I spent some time discussing how to prepare to lead in smaller congregations.
2 | The pros and cons of leading in a small church
It's easy to focus on all the negatives of leading in a small church. You've got a smaller budget. There are less volunteers. You're probably in charge of MORE than just the worship ministry.
But, James and I also discussed some of the advantages you have when leading in a small church.
3 | How to overcome the "large church comparison trap"
There is always the temptation to look at larger churches and compare yourself to them.
James and I talked about the dangers of comparing yourself to large churches and what you can do instead of getting caught up in the comparison trap.
