Lead a Familiar Song for Easter

Lead a familiar song for worship on Easter

There's no other way to say it: at Easter you're going to have people who come to church only twice a year. They don't know Glorious Day, they don't know Death was Arrested, they don't know Overcome. So give them a chance to respond!

Think of your Christmas services for a second. People who only come to church a few times a year will sing along to traditional Christmas carols because they know them. They have memories wrapped up in them.

What if we could harness that same energy for Easter?

But there aren't any Easter carols.

Well, let me give you a list of Easter songs people might know even if they only come to church a few times a year:

1 | Amazing Grace

2 | Mighty to Save

3 | Jesus Paid It All

4 | In Christ Alone

5 | The Old Rugged Cross

6 | The Wondrous Cross

We're doing Amazing Grace - it's not the most hip or modern song but people know it. The power is not in the song choice. The power is in the people singing it.

So this Easter - Yes. Lead Death Was Arrested. Sing Glorious Day. And I know you're probably going to do Reckless Love so throw that in there too. But don't neglect the songs that people who only come to church twice a year might know. Give them a chance to respond.

What other Easter songs might people be familiar with?
