QUIT introducing new songs without doing this! (Video)

Don't listen to a new song before you introduce it to your church!

Wait... let me correct that: Don't JUST listen to a new song before you introduce it.

There is a danger in only listening to a song before we introduce it to our church. That danger is that music is inherently emotional. This emotion is not a bad thing but sometimes emotion clouds truth.

God has given us the gift of music not simply as a mean of expressing our emotion but, rather, as a vehicle for carrying the heart-felt emotional response to TRUTH.

How do we bypass the initial emotional response and decide whether what we are singing carries truth that is worth responding to? We TURN the music OFF and simply read the lyrics.

That's why, over on the Leading Worship Well YouTube channel, I just released a video called "QUIT introducing new songs without doing this!"

In the video, you'll learn how reading the lyrics of a song helps us better identify the truth we are teaching our church. Then, we'll take a look at 3 popular worship songs, READ the lyrics, analyze the truth in them, and see if they're worth singing on Sundays.
