Worship Leaders: What To Do Now That Easter Is Over

Worship Leaders: What To Do Now That Easter Is Over

You did it! You made it through Easter. And the question is: now what?

In your worship leading journey, there are seasons that you go through. Some are busy... some not as busy. And it's usually this time right after Easter, as schools are starting to let out and you start to transition into summer that there aren't quite as many things to prepare for. So, what should you be doing?

Here are 3 things you should do now that Easter is over:

1 | Gather everything you used to plan for Easter and put it in a spot you'll easily be able to access next year

The first thing you can do is set yourself up for success next year. When you go to prepare for Easter in 2020, don't start from scratch. Start by looking at what you did the previous year. This can serve as inspiration. It can also show you what worked well and what needs to be improved next time.

Make a folder on your computer called "2019 Easter" and fill it with any files/set lists/creative elements/orders of worship you used this year. Also, consider writing down any thoughts you had about each service you prepared for. Write down anything you think you might need to change next year. It'll make your preparation next year go that much faster.

2 | Reflect on this past season

While you're gathering all these things and putting them in one place, use it as a time to reflect on these first 4 months of 2019. What can you celebrate? What is working well? What might need some tweaking? There's still plenty of time to fix anything that's not working this year. Don't be afraid to make adjustments in the way you're doing things - think of your worship service planning process, how you run worship rehearsals, etc.

3 | Set up a system that will help you in the next "busy" season

Finally, in this "summer lull," use any extra time you have to create systems that will set you up to have a less busy "busy season."

Answer the question: what's one thing you feel overwhelmed with at Christmas/Easter time? Is it scheduling volunteers? Is it planning services? Is it finding time for rest? Utilize this season to prepare something that will help you succeed in the next season.
